WHEN IT COMES TO PAYING FOR COLLEGE, AMERICAN FAMILIES SPENT LESS OUT-OF-POCKET--AND TAPPED MORE INTO BOTH SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS--THIS PAST YEAR.  THAT'S ACCORDING TO "HOW AMERICA PAYS FOR COLLEGE, 2016"--THE NATIONAL STUDY BY "SALLIE MAE" AND "IPSOS".  WHILE FAMILIES ARE WILLING TO STRETCH FINANCIALLY, THE STUDY FINDS, THEY'RE ALSO TAKING STEPS TO MAKE COLLEGE MORE AFFORDABLE:  SPECIFICALLY, ABOUT HALF OF FAMILIES USED A SCHOLARSHIP OR GRANT TO HELP PAY FOR COLLEGE, THIS PAST ACADEMIC-YEAR.  AND, NEARLY ALL FAMILIES TOOK AT LEAST ONE COST-SAVING MEASURE--SUCH AS CUTTING PERSONAL SPENDING, WORKING WHILE AT SCHOOL, OR LIVING AT HOME.  THE STUDY ALSO FINDS THAT 90-PERCENT OF FAMILIES WITH COLLEGE-STUDENTS EXPECT THEIR STUDENTS TO EARN A BACHELOR'S DEGREE--WHILE 54-PERCENT EXPECT THEIR STUDENTS TO EARN A GRADUATE-DEGREE.  FOR THE FULL STUDY--AND FOR MORE COLLEGE-RESOURCES--VISIT "SALLIE-MAE"-DOT-COM-SLASH-"HOW-AMERICA-PAYS".
