Planning for retirement is often easier said than done--especially in the current economy. A crisis in confidence has plagued U.S. investors, as bad news continues to mount in regard to corporate fraud, terrorism and a weak economy. The result is postponing retirement saving, sitting on the sidelines to weather the storm, or--worse yet--not saving at all.
This means a vast majority of Americans will either have to work beyond the normal retirement age or accept a lower standard of living in retirement. Now, more than ever before, Americans need to take responsibility for their own retirement planning. Major studies have shown that we cannot rely solely on social security and pension plans.
That's why the National Retirement Planning Coalition is encouraging consumers to overcome their fears, stop procrastinating and take action.
